Ariane is a material designer, researcher and writer. Her research explores an alternative way of visualising weave structure notation through the empty space in-between warp and weft. The study combines conceptual reflections and practical experiments including weaving, drawing, microscopy and X-Ray CT scanning.  The research aims to dimystify the discipline of weaving and decouple it from its mechanical principles in order to open-up the craft to interdisciplinary research.

Parallel to her research practice, Ariane is an artist, mainly focusing on graphite drawing through which she explores the idea of greyness.

Ariane is an active contributor to conferences and actively engaged in building research communities in textile design research and beyond.
